Bali Starling Bird


Bali Starling Bird (Leucopsar rothschildi) is a type of warbler-sized, approximately 25cm in length, from the tribe Sturnidae. Bali Starling has special characteristics, which have a white fur all over his body except at the tip of the tail and wings are black. The cheeks are not covered with feathers, bright blue and the legs are grayish. Male and female birds are similar.
Endemic to Indonesia, Bali Starling is found only in the forests of the western island of Bali. This bird is also the only species endemic Bali and in 1991 was named the fauna symbol of Bali Province. The existence of endemic animals are reserved. Bali Starling was first discovered in 1910. Scientific name of Bali Starling named after a British animal expert, Walter Rothschild, as the first to describe this species to the world of knowledge in 1912. Because of the beautiful and elegant appearance, Bali starling bird became one of the most in demand by collectors and bird fancier. Illegal arrest, loss of forest habitat, as well as the area is found to be very limited bird causing the bird population is rapidly shrinking and endangered species in a short time. To prevent this to happen, most zoos around the world run the Bali starling breeding program.



Bali starling bird, if we observe at first glance looks similar to a bird starling bird starling White and Suren, Bali Starling Bird has special characteristics, which have a white fur all over his body except at the tip of the tail and wings are black. Bali starling bird eyes dark brown, the area around the eyelids are not hairy with dark blue, Bali Starling Bird has a beautiful crest, both sexes males and females, have a Bali Starling foot gray blue with 4 fingers ( 1 to 3 to the rear and front), Part pointed with length 2-5 cm, with a distinctive form where at the top there is a flattened vertical elevation. Color gray beak with the tip blackish brownish yellow.
